Lorem Ipsum tells the story of a press officer who, faced with a metafictional synopsis, is unsure what to make of it, so he asks the show's author for comment, who quotes him verbatim: "Lorem Ipsum is my second stand-up comedy monologue. The humour, the anarchy, the glorious fun—its tagline says it all: “Of the Psycho Who Steals Underwear”. Total absurdity right off the bat, as a suited pervert harassing stewardesses in a white aeroplane suddenly finds himself dropped among buffaloes in a field in Isan. Iconic Isan farang movie star Martin Wheeler is the village headman who can’t live without inhaling his wife’s cleavage. Despite the cartoonish, sped-up and silly veneer, it has strong resonance, as in the psycho freak-out scene amidst ancient ruins. Plus the cast of great faces, the acting, the camera placement and editing in this shoestring movie outshine most big budget Thai films.
Andrew, an awkward 16-year-old, spends his free time writing poetry on a Central Park bench. Unapologetically honest, shameless, and effortlessly clever, Gene forms an unlikely friendship with Andrew that helps him open his eyes to the poetic inspiration found in a simple day at the park.
