An animation tribute for graphic artist Xosé Vizoso, responsible for developing Galician visual culture through his work and during his path at the Sargadelos factory, where he became heir to the language built by Isaac Díaz Pardo and Luis Seoane.
'Hang' is a stop animation short film created by Sam Slowik, a sophomore at Brookfield Central High School in Wisconsin. The 3 minute short film is shot at 15 pictures/frames per second and is made up of nearly 4,500 individual pictures with minor movements to the character for a fluid animation style. 'Hang' features the music of Milwaukee punk band, Band Crime. Work is always more enjoyable when you get to do it with good friends and loud music. In the Taiwanese countryside, a high school senior, Shuan, is passionate about playing guitar. One summer day, his parents argue heatedly about money. Pretending to attend the study group, Shuan escaped his household chores and went to the city to hang out with his bandmates. Later that day, a typhoon hit, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. Meanwhile, Shuan’s mother had not yet returned home, and his young sister was nowhere to be found.
An excavational inquiry through photographs, touch, and looking at times and places far from here and now, animating and conjuring a link between past and present.
This poetic dialogue unfolds between a young girl and her deceased great-grandfather, intertwining images from a German town where he was sent to a work camp during World War II with a delicate narrative as the girl pens a letter. The past seamlessly blends with the present, and flashes of memory mix with moments of oblivion.
